At 3am, a useful medication record answers a few plain questions: which child, which medicine, what amount was recorded, what time it was given and who logged it. A shared history gives the next caregiver something they can read without piecing together messages or waking someone to ask.
Write down what happened
Record the dose when it is given, following the medication label or the plan your family has been given. Keep the child, medicine and time clear. If you are unsure whether a dose was given, check with the other caregiver and get appropriate advice before making a decision.
An interval belongs to a plan
Unpanic uses the interval recorded for that medication plan. If a new dose conflicts with it, the app displays a blocking interval warning. When the interval is unknown, Unpanic asks the caregiver to check the medication label or plan.
A recorded interval is useful context. It is not permission to give another dose, and a missing warning cannot establish that a dose is safe.
Make the handover easy to read
Before someone else takes over, check that the shared record tells the story:
- The child and medicine are clearly identified.
- The amount and time match what was given.
- The next caregiver can see who recorded the entry.
- Any uncertainty or change in the plan is explained.
Logging is not prescribing
Families enter the medicine, amount and interval from their label or medication plan. Unpanic organizes those entries and warns about conflicts with the recorded interval. It does not diagnose, choose a medication, or prescribe a dose. A clinician or pharmacist remains the right person for questions about which medicine to use, the dose or a change in treatment.
